About the author
Patrick Hardy is qualified as a lawyer in England, Hong Kong and Guernsey. He also holds a personal trainer certification. A Death in the Gym is his first novel.
Why this book
Patrick explains: “I wrote the book partly as a creative challenge; it was easy to say that I had a book inside me, but something else for me to actually write one. My inspiration was to draw upon what I most enjoyed from reading fiction (page-turning plots, unexpected twists, a mix of humour and drama, the secrets we keep from one another) and to try to produce something which had these elements - something I would seek out myself and enjoy as a reader.
My main character is a personal trainer and another principal character is a lawyer. I am a lawyer and qualified as a personal trainer, so I have tried to draw the story from both these worlds".
