Danielle Brooks has vowed to embrace a "bold" new style in 2026 because she doesn't "want to hide any more".
Danielle Brooks is embracing a new style for 2026
The Color Purple star, 36, has revealed she previously struggled with body image issues that stifled her fashion choices but she now feels a lot more "comfortable" and is ready to showcase some exciting new looks with the help of her stylist.
She told WWD: "I'm at this point where especially in 2026 this year, I've set a goal to be intentional about everything that I do. And that's even in clothes.
"I don't want to hide anymore in the sense of making myself small. I want to be bold. I want my clothes to feel bold.
"And I think a lot of times I didn't feel that I could do that because either maybe I wasn't comfortable in my body at the time, or because I just felt like the clothes weren't really matching my personality and how I felt.
"There's multiple reasons for that, but now I feel like having a stylist that I trust, who understands me and what I want to showcase, I feel comfortable. I feel like, yeah, I'm here."
Danielle previously collaborated with plus size brand Universal Standard to release a three-piece capsule titled Tria, and the actress admitted she never thought her dream of designing clothes would come true.
Speaking to Teen Vogue Online, Danielle said: "To see them [merchandise] come to life and see women wear them and make them their own is one of the coolest feelings: an unexpected feeling that I never thought would come. I hope to do more of it because this is a really great balance for me, being that my first priority is acting.
"But getting to step into this world is something I hope to have a long future in as well. I'm so grateful that women are clinging to these three looks that I designed."
Danielle also revealed the inspiration behind her collection was to create items she would personally want to own.
She explained: "They really did come from things that I wanted to have in my closet. I really enjoy a casual look.
"You can take it from night to day, so it was fun to create these pieces and really think about what I'd want to wear when I'm on a plane going to L.A. What would I want to wear if I woke up and had a meeting first thing that day? What could I throw on?"
